MS DOS

MS DOS was Microsoft's operating system for the PC in the 80's. Being a text-based operating system, it made the most out of the limited hardware resources in the PCs back then.

Early versions of Windows was installed on top of MS DOS. Later, MS DOS was more or less incorporated into Windows. In recent versions of Windows most of the DOS-based code has been replaced.
