:: Psychedelic Norwegian Television Aimed at Children ::
Pompel og Pilt was a children's television series in the 70's, back when Norwegian television = 1 channel. The sheer weirdness of this show "traumatized an entire generation." The two main characters are repairmen (reparatørene) who repair nothing and go around quoting "To reparatører er bedre enn ingen reparatører" and interacting with a sincerely bizarre cast of characters such as the Whistle guys whose heads go up and down with a whistling sound in way of response to Pompel's questions, the Vaktmester (janitor) who mumbles rhymes on reparere (subtrahere, multiplisere, dividere, osv.) in a very annoying manner, and a weird snuffly shag carpet who eats keys. Pompel and Pilt go around knocking on one door to open another, and inducing in poor innocent children a sense that the world makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The forest of pale colored fibers hanging from the sky of Pompel and Pilt's world were the stuff of nightmares, I've been told....
